First of all, I would like to apologize for not updating my gallery recently. It's not because I don't have time, but because I've lost some of my interest in 3D lately. This is also the very reason why I'm writing this journal.
One of the reasons for my increasing lack of motivation is my personal experiences of the Finnish 3D industry. I've been applying in several job offers during the recent years, but no luck so far. Jobs for 3D artists seem very scarce in Finland and as the professional educated 3D artists grow in number, this trend is getting stronger. Being realistic, I fail to see any bright future for me as a 3D artist. This might not be the case in other parts of the world but obviously it is in Finland.
The second reason is my growing interest towards Japanese language and culture. I've been studying the language for three years now, and lately, I've began to understand more and more in an increasing pace. Needless to say, I'm very excited. This has raised some new thoughts to my mind, and right now, I'm almost certain I want to go to Helsinki University to study Japanese in fall 2007. Sounds crazy probably, but for me, it isn't.
So these are the top two reasons for my inactivity. But there's more to it too. Especially regarding the 3D thing. In short, after I learned what Peak Oil means, I've lost a lot of faith in the so called industrialized world and its sustainability. Not to mention its growth. And this touches 3D industry deeply, since it's highly dependent on fossil fuel production and electricity. I've also become more concerned about global warming and environmental pollution, and this summer being the warmest in more than a century in Finland, I'm getting increasingly worried. If I was you, I'd prepare to a lifechange in the coming years. It's likely, that world economy will collapse more or less dramatically before 2010. Be prepared.
In any case, this doesn't have much to do with deviantART (at least not at present. In the future it will affect dA too.) so I'll stop here.
I'll probably continue releasing 3D stuff, but not as frequently as before. So this is not necessarily a goodbye. I'll always keep going forward! Ganbarimasu! XD
Peace, JetroPag
